Home and Family
Do you make your home a place of affection where God’s presence is felt? Do you practice family prayer? Do you share your deepest beliefs and interests with all in the family? Do you grow together through sharing prosperity and adversity? Can you keep a sense of humor and avoid taking yourself too seriously? Do you establish family standards including the mutual obligations of children and adults?
Are you as children learning to be accountable for your own actions? Do you as parents help your children to grow in independence and responsibility? Do you consider the needs of grandparents and older members of the family circle?

Joys & Concerns
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer reported that the Meeting’s finances are in good order and funding is stable. A copy of the Treasurer’s report is attached.
Expenses for repair of the dining room window have been entered under the expense line “Meetinghouse Renovations” on the monthly Treasurer’s report, rather than under the expense line for “Minor Repairs and Supplies,” in order to better track Meetinghouse renovation expenses as they accrue.
The Treasurer’s Report was accepted as presented.
Property Committee Report
Friends would like to minute again their appreciation to Lois Bannon and Allen Capron for all the work that they have performed on behalf of the Property Committee.
Other Business
Meeting Outreach
The Carlisle Sentinel will be publishing a “Welcome Edition.” Amy Hurley will coordinate placement of an advertisement for the Meeting. Amy will also clerk an ad hoc committee on outreach for the Meeting. Friends agreed to allocate $500 for advertising purposes. Friends are considering pursuing the rental of a billboard as a means to garner greater awareness of the Meeting in the local community.
Carlisle Friends Meeting Web Blog
Martha Slotten has suggested that Young Friends of the Meeting be invited to contribute to the Carlisle Friends Blog. Friends enthusiastically support the idea.
First Day School
Marilyn Keener is requesting that Friends consider studying a Quaker personage to present to the First Day School children. Quaker figures studied and presented in the past have been: John Woolman, Lucretia Mott, Rufus Jones, George Fox, and Martha Slotten’s family.
Announcements
*Harrisburg Meeting’s Pine Grove Furnace Meeting for Worship, picnic, potluck, and general fund day is on June 8. An overnight is also planned. See Andy Hoover for details.
**The Brubakers have invited everyone to a Meeting picnic on Sunday, June 22 at Greening Life Community in Shermans Dale. The meal is planned for 5:00 p.m., with salmon provided by the hosts. Guests should reply to the Brubakers and bring table settings, chairs, and potluck to share. There will be singing, horseshoes, hay rides, and fellowship aplenty.
***Clerk read a letter received from Adelphi Friends Meeting of their concern in regards to the existence of modern day slavery. Entitled, “Free the Slaves,” Adelphi Friends provided a packet of information which highlights their concern. Clerk suggested that Friends consider this topic for a future Second Hour and/or a topic for First Day School.
**** Warrington Quarter is planning to hold its August meeting at historic Huntingdon Meetinghouse in York Springs, PA. A sleep over/camping event would be planned for Saturday evening, August 16th, with Meeting for Worship and Business Meeting on Sunday, August 17th. Stay tuned for details.
*****Carlisle Cares is seeing an increase in the number of men and women they are serving and they are considering segregating the sexes in order to be able to accommodate more people and include more churches as host communities that would otherwise not have the space to handle a larger crowd made up of both men and women. Would the Meeting consider serving as a host community more often if the sexes were separated?
Joys & Concerns
Francesca and Sherry have been teaching Young Friends songs which the children are singing at the Todd Home. Friends who participated enjoyed the singing and suggested that Friends may want to learn the songs as well.
Pegi Siegel is enjoying a visit from her son who is visiting from China.
